David Shepard

President

David directs investment research and monitors the investments. He works with clients to tailor a financial plan and reviews the client portfolios on a regular basis to make sure they meet client’s original investment objectives.

David started his career while still in college as a sales assistant at Merrill Lynch. He joined Dan Callahan in 1993 to help transition the business from commission work to fee-only investment management and in the formation of Callahan Capital Management in 1995. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Economics from Rollins College as well has his Series 65 Uniform Investment Adviser Law Exam License.

Peter Johnson

Investments

Peter oversees Callahan Capital's Denver Tech Center office. Peter is an active money manager, responsible for complex trading strategies as well as digging deep into the fundamentals of multinational companies with unique businesses to find those with the greatest financial strength. These form a set of core holdings, around which he trades to take advantage of shorter term opportunities. Working one-on-one with the clients, Peter determines which strategies best fit their situation and continually educates them on financial markets and the investment industry as a whole. He believes strongly in using technology to continually test investment models in various market conditions, striving to achieve the perfect risk/return balance.

Peter has over 13 years of experience in active investment management. He received his BSBA in Finance with a minor in Economics from the University of Denver in June of 2005 and holds his Series 65 license with the state of Colorado. He spends the majority of his free time with his family, including his wife, his two boys and their dogs.

John McCollum

Client Services

John’s expertise is in overseeing account services, including client inquires, account documents, and disbursement. From verifying account balances to producing reports on your social security benefits, he is committed to giving you the best possible service.

John joined CCM in 2014 after 19 years in banking and most recently from Bank of the West where he was Branch Manager for the Steamboat Springs Branch. You may know him from Lions Club or the South Routt school board.

Harold Kirschner CFP®

Investments and Financial planning

Harold works in Callahan Capital’s Denver Tech Center office. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and has been providing personal financial planning and investment management services to clients since 1998. Harold provides comprehensive financial planning, wealth management and investment advice to individuals, families, and small businesses.

Prior to working as a financial advisor, Harold worked as an aerospace engineer for over 10 years. He received his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering degree from Parks College of St. Louis University, has a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Houston – Clear Lake, and earned his CFP® in 1999.

Blue James Shepard

Bookkeeper

Blue is essential for maintaining smooth work flow in the office. She handles payroll, billing, and keeps the books balanced. In addition to Callahan Capital Management, Blue manages the office and books at STARS.  Her previous experience include store manager at Colorado Mountain College, bookkeeper for Yampa Valley Housing Authority, and Human Resource Director and Accounting Manager at Yampa Valley Bank.
